Major eRostering Software Procurement Awarded to SMART
Following an extensive public tender process, SMART, provider of workforce management software solutions has been selected to provide time and attendance and electronic rostering software to a group of three NHS Trusts in the North East of England - in the largest NHS eRostering software procurement of its kind.
The procurement consortium, which consisted of: The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Trust have contracted with SMART for the provision of systems to manage a staggering 26,000 employees, across almost 200 sites.
The procurement was concluded with the consortium exercising an option under the ESR contract, which enables NHS Trusts to contract for the time, attendance and rostering solution with the NHS, McKesson and SMART as joint parties to the supply contract.
"This is a significant win for us and one that we are most proud of. The selection process was professional, demanding and extensive, and we are delighted to have come out of the contest as a clear winner in all areas investigated. This contract helps to clarify our proven capabilities to deliver end-to-end workforce management solutions to NHS Trusts" explained Tristan Spencer, Health Market Director at SMART, "Our system will remove the pain of managing a manual rostering process and is expected to deliver huge efficiency savings and financial benefits for these Trusts, which fits well with the NHS' current drive towards improved efficiencies and productivity" he added.
Technology played a key role in the selection of the SMART solutions, which enable NHS staff to view and request preferred working hours from anywhere with Internet access. The result for the three Trusts will be an end-to-end paperless and highly efficient system which interfaces to all existing systems across the Trusts for the management of staff.
